Natural Resource Restoration Opportunities

The Lititz Run Watershed Alliance (LRWA) has achieved many successes in its efforts to restore the watershed. The Lititz Run Watershed Planning Initiative has received awards from the Pennsylvania Planning Association and the Pennsylvania / Delaware Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. The Lititz Run Watershed was also selected as one of 12 watersheds in the nation as a "Showcase Watershed" by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

While there have been successes, the rapid growth occurring within the watershed continues to put pressure on the area’s natural resources and cherished rural character. To achieve its goal of further water-quality improvement, the LRWA advocates continuation of its restoration efforts.

The community-based planning process undertaken by the Lititz Run Watershed Alliance has identified numerous restoration opportunities throughout the watershed. These potential restoration sites are distributed throughout the watershed and address a broad range of water quality issues including: Nutrient Management, Erosion Control, Urban / Suburban Runoff and Detention, Wildlife Habitat Creation and Riparian Corridor Restoration and Management.

The LRWA is seeking Partnerships and Funding to continue the watershed restoration effort. To take a closer look at these Restoration Opportunities sites Click on the button "Projects" to view photographs and descriptions.
